Mutamenti Global cultural and territorial evolutions
Mutamenti is the title of a major multidisciplinary cultural event planned for 24 and 25 August 2007 in the setting of Bellinzona's three castles (Castelgrande-Montebello-Sasso Corbaro ). For the very first time, they are simultaneously hosting exhibitions and productions dedicated to Swiss artistic creation and, in particular, to contemporary art. Mutamenti is theconcluding project of the Gallerie 57/34.6 km programme of the Swiss Arts Council, Pro Helvetia, built around the theme of the new St. Gotthard and Lötschberg Tunnels. Taking a historical perspective, the programme has shed light on the relationship between mobility and cultural identity.
A packed programme
Mutamenti's packed programme, which is also going to be opening a window in Zurich on 4 July 2007, encompasses theoretical ideas, visual arts, literature and video films. In addition to Pro Helvetia, the event's official partner is the City of Bellinzona along with the tourist board for Bellinzona and district. Mutamenti is to appeal not only to those with an active role on the cultural scene, but also to the public at large and to young people.
Opening and official inauguration:
Friday, 24 August at 18.00 in the Castelgrande

Mutamenti-Visioni Exhibition
24 August – 4 November Artists, who often adopt provocative and less conventional forms of language, are the interpreters and promoters of new trends in contemporary creativity. The artists whose work is to be exhibited in Bellinzona have been selected on account of their capacity, through their works, to prompt us to think about the phenomenon of globalisation and the evolutions induced by it. The exhibition, curated by Boris Magrini, is being staged on the premises of the three castles (Castelgrande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro). It is to be inaugurated on 25 August at 16.00 and will remain open to the public until 4 November. The chosen artists are Valentin Carron, Al Fadhil, Ivana Falconi, Fabrizio Giannini, Bob Gramsma, Andreas Helbling, Yves Mettler, Aldo Mozzini, Sladjan Nedeljkovic, Hinrich Sachs, Nika Spalinger, Jules Spinatsch, Supersober - Bohdan Stehlik / Una Szeemann, Olga Titus and Costa Vece.

Mutamenti-Segni First-hand records
The active participants in the “Segnidiversisegnatiinversi” project, which has been developed in the course of the “Gallerie 57/34.6 km” programme, are primarily the construction workers in the Alptransit tunnelling project in all their various functions. Labourers and managers, as well as occasional visitors, have produced artistic works, without being subject to any sort of constraint at all, and these works now constitute an extraordinary collection of first-hand records.
The social situation prevalent in each of the workplaces and the environmental and regional impressions made on their creators are recounted through drawings, texts, shapes and colours. This exhibition is supervised by the artist Nando Snozzi – with Gianni Hoffmann, Anna Schmid, Anna-Rita Stoffel, Claudio Tettamanti, Simona Viviani - and is on display in the exhibition rooms of the Sasso Corbaro castle.
Opening: Saturday, 25 August, 11.00 Castello Sasso Corbaro, Bellinzona
The exhibition lasts until 4 November
